Hair Rejuvenation Treatments

Hair loss and Hair thinning are very common problems reported in the day to day basis.

At Ysl, we take the patient’s medical history, hair care regimen, recent surgeries, and hair loss situation followed by a Trichoscopic examination to access the density and thinning of hair roots.

If needed blood tests are recommended to rule out metabolic problems like Thyroid, Insulin Resistance etc Or Nutritional Disorders Like Anaemia, Deficiency of Calcium or Vitamin D3 Levels Or Hormonal Imbalance In Female Patients.

Then Medical management is started under prescription and the following treatments are recommended as per need of the patient.

Dermarollers and mesotherapy

This is also called micro needling where dermaroller, a specific device with fixed number of needles is used to create micro channels on the scalp. This creates an ideal environment for regrowth of natural hair as the micro injuries trigger the skin’s repair process and thereby collagen and elastin is naturally produced. Apart from this, the injuries awaken dormant hair follicles to begin production of new hair. In addition, the micro channels created allow the scalp to quickly absorb the Growth factors that are applied after the procedure.

This leads to reduction in hair loss and improve the hair fragility and Texture. Usually 4-6 sessions 2 weeks apart are planned. It is easily tolerated by the patients, and is a good complementary treatment to Medical Management.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

In more severe cases who do not respond well to traditional Medical management or want more significant results in hair volume and thickness, PRP treatments are recommended.

It is platelet rich plasma from which red blood cells and white blood cells are removed. The Platelets are rich in growth factors.

Approximately 8-16ml of patient’s blood will be drawn prior to each therapy session, which depends on the size of the treated area. It is then centrifuged in a specialised kit and approximately 4-8 ml PRP is collected separately in Insulin needles.

Once this is acquired, it is injected into the scalp as multiple tiny injections to promote hair growth of a patient to prevent hair loss and promote hair growth by stimulating the hair follicles.

We use special methods to make the PRP injections as painless as possible.

Patients are permitted to shampoo their hair one or two days after the procedure.

Post the treatment, a patient may experience tenderness, soreness, minimal pain, while the scalp may undergo tightness that lasts up to 24 hours.

Usually 3- 6 sessions of PRP 1 month apart are recommended.

Hair Transplant Surgery

In very severe hair loss cases typically stage 4-5 baldness, where medical treatments fail to deliver, Hair transplant is recommended to cover the crown or scalp area or make a new hairline.

After careful counselling and appropriate blood tests the procedure is performed in an OT set up.

The patients are advised to withdraw from vitamins, blood thinners, and other contraindicated medicines at least a week before the treatment while smoking, alcohol, and hair products must be avoided three days prior. In addition, they must increase their water consumption and wash their hair a day before the procedure.

The hair is shaved off on the day of procedure and marking of the donor and recipient area is done.

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)

FUE is a hair transplant treatment in which follicular units of hair are extracted one by one from the donor area of a patient’s scalp. A microneedle is thus used to punch a tiny incision (unit) around a hair follicle for extraction. Each unit comprises a group of up to four hair called follicular unit grafts, which are then transplanted onto the balding areas. Hence, this is an ideal solution for patients who like to keep their hair short. These sessions may require 8 to 12 hours for 2000 graft transplants.
